  • Ukrainian farmers observe a decline in prices for white cabbage in the first days of April
    Опубликовано: 2024-04-04 13:07:08

In the first days of April, Ukrainian farmers are seeing a decline in prices for white cabbage due to the poor quality of the vegetable caused by long-term storage. This trend, according to analysts of the EastFruit project, is taking place against the backdrop of declining demand.

Analysts' data show that over the weekend, prices for cabbage in Ukrainian farms decreased by 26% on average. Currently, white cabbage is traded at prices ranging from 5 to 10 hryvnias per kilogram ($0.13-0.26), compared to 12 hryvnias ($0.31) per kilogram a week ago.

Market participants attribute this to a sharp drop in the quality of cabbage due to prolonged storage. Together with the decline in demand, this is contributing to a further decline in prices for this vegetable.

Cabbage prices in Ukraine are now 55% lower than last year. At the end of April 2023, prices ranged from 15 to 18 hryvnias per kilogram ($0.38-0.46).

Analysts also foresee the possibility of further decline in cabbage prices due to the deterioration of product quality.
