The Ukrainian potato market has seen a significant decline in prices for this vegetable since the beginning of this week due to the import of new crop supplies. According to analysts of the EastFruit project, this factor has had a significant impact on the price performance of domestic products.

Over the past week, average prices for potatoes in Ukraine have decreased by 12%, to the range of 14-20 UAH per kilogram ($0.36-0.51 per kilogram). At the same time, imported potatoes of the new harvest from Egypt and Azerbaijan are currently being sold for 25-30 UAH per kilogram ($0.64-0.77 per kilogram).

According to analysts, this week the supply of domestic potatoes on the market has increased significantly due to warm weather, which encourages producers to hurry up with the sale of last year's potatoes to concentrate on the new harvest.

In addition, the leftover potatoes have also started to be actively sold at spontaneous markets, but the quality of this vegetable is mostly poor.

Despite the decline in prices, potato prices in Ukraine remain on average 2.5 times higher than last year. This reflects the overall market dynamics and the impact of external factors on the domestic economy.
