Active grape harvesting has begun in Odesa region, and forecasts promise an impressive harvest on an area of 12,827 hectares. As of today, half of the harvest has already been collected, which amounts to a huge 31 thousand tons of grapes. The surprising figure is the yield, which is 44.8 centners per hectare. This information is reported by ProAgro Group, citing data from the regional military administration.

Viticulture in Odesa region plays a significant role in creating economic prosperity in the region. This industry provides sustainable employment for about 7 thousand local residents, and during the season this figure increases significantly. At the same time, viticulture and winemaking are important sources of taxes for local communities, contribute to foreign currency earnings through exports and, most importantly, create new jobs.

In order to support grape growing and processing enterprises, a number of programs have been implemented in Odesa region, which are coordinated through the Unified State Agrarian Register (SAR). Such initiatives contribute to the further development of viticulture and open up new opportunities for the growth of the wine industry in the region.

"Currently, the relevant department is working on the creation of a regional system of geographical indications in the region and a network of CGI (controlled designations of interest) is being developed, which will facilitate the expansion of our wines to the European and world markets," the DIA emphasized.

Now, Odesa region can be proud of an impressive achievement in the field of viticulture, which provides prospects for further growth and improvement of the wine industry in the region.
