Since the beginning of the agricultural season 2023/24, which lasts from July to June, as of October 13, Ukraine has exported 7 545 thsd tonnes of grains and pulses. This information is reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, citing ProAgro Group.
According to the State Customs Service, the volume of grain exports during this time lags behind by almost 3 million tons compared to the figures as of October 14 last year.
In particular, wheat exports amounted to 3,844 thousand tons, which is almost the same as the amount of grain exported on the same date a year earlier. As for barley, 644 thousand tons have been shipped since the beginning of the season, which is 250 thousand tons less than in the previous season. As for corn, 2,940 thousand tons were shipped abroad, which is 2.8 million tons less than in the same period last year. In addition, 800 tons of rye were exported, which is 3.9 thousand tons less than a year earlier.
In addition, 39 thousand tons of grain flour were exported abroad, including 37.7 thousand tons of wheat flour. This is 10.3 thousand tons more than in the same period last season.
The decrease in grain exports compared to the previous year may be due to a number of factors, such as weather conditions, domestic market conditions and demand for grain on the global market. Nevertheless, Ukraine continues to be an important player on the global grain market.
