The Khmelnytsky region of Ukraine is recognized as a leader in potato yields, with a harvest of 2 million tons of this vegetable and an impressive yield of 320 centners per hectare. According to Oleh Omelyanyuk, head of the regional military administration's Department of Agricultural Development and Land Relations, more than 99% of potatoes and vegetables in the region are grown by households and individuals.
The information confirms that in 2023, 61.4 thousand hectares of potatoes were planted in Khmelnytsky region, and the total harvest amounted to 2 million tons with a stable yield of 320 centners per hectare. These figures make Khmelnytsky region the leader in Ukraine in terms of potato yields and demonstrate the successful work of the region's agricultural producers.
Oleg Omelyanyuk also emphasized that the local population is extremely active in growing potatoes, which contributes to self-sufficiency in this product. According to him, the population's self-sufficiency in potatoes reaches about 600%.
The increase in the area under potatoes in the region also indicates the active development of the agricultural sector in the region. Such successes allow Khmelnytsky to confidently rank first in the cultivation of this important crop in Ukraine.
