  • Destruction of bee territories threatens to lead to honey shortages and counterfeiting
    Опубликовано: 2023-07-28 16:02:15

The war in Ukraine has led to the destruction of about 30% of honey-bearing areas and bee swarms, which has led to a decrease in honey production in the country and may lead to higher prices for this valuable product. This was stated by a representative of the industry, Andriy Gorbonos.

The beekeeper noted that beekeeping is a key factor in achieving successful agricultural harvests, but due to the loss of honey-bearing areas, the number of bees for crop pollination has decreased. This may lead to a shortage of fruit and vegetable crops, as the amount of pollination will decrease, leading to higher prices for such products.

Due to the loss of honey-growing areas, the number of bee swarms is also decreasing, which has an additional negative impact on honey production in Ukraine. The beekeeper warns that this could lead to an increase in the price of honey. Moreover, the price of honey will also be determined by socio-economic factors, such as export prices.

According to the beekeeper, before the war, Ukraine was one of the leaders in global honey exports, but now the amount has decreased due to the loss of territory. A lot of honey was sold as raw materials abroad. This leads to a potential shortage of honey on the domestic market and the appearance of counterfeit products.

The beekeeper expresses his indignation at this state of affairs and emphasizes the importance of beekeeping for agricultural yields and biodiversity. He calls for attention to the problem and the need to support beekeeping to ensure the stability of the honey market in Ukraine.
