  • Austria increases support: another 2 million euros for Grain From Ukraine
    Опубликовано: 2025-03-06 13:09:38

Austria has allocated 2 million euros to the Ukrainian humanitarian initiative Grain From Ukraine, aimed at combating global hunger. This decision is part of broader cooperation between the two countries, which includes support for Ukraine during the war, the development of agriculture and the expansion of trade relations.

This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

During a meeting with the Austrian Ambassador to Ukraine Arad Benkö, Minister of Agrarian Policy Vitaly Koval thanked the Austrian side for its contribution to food security and stressed the importance of international support for overcoming global challenges. "These are an additional 2 million euros that will help provide food to countries suffering from hunger. This is an important step towards strengthening international solidarity," the minister noted.

The parties also discussed the need for joint work at the European Commission level to ensure the unhindered export of Ukrainian agricultural products. In the context of war, Ukraine faces numerous logistical challenges, so support from European partners is critically important for the stable supply of grain to world markets.

Separately, Koval emphasized that Austria remains a key trading partner of Ukraine. In 2024, the volume of bilateral trade in agricultural products and food reached $210 million. The main items of Ukrainian exports were corn, fruit and vegetable juices, soybeans, sunflower oil, frozen fruits and nuts. At the same time, Ukraine imported chocolate and cocoa-containing products, ready-made sauces, animal feed, corn, as well as mineral and carbonated waters from Austria.

The Grain From Ukraine initiative, launched by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, has already attracted funding from over 30 countries and international organizations. It allows the supply of Ukrainian grain to the most vulnerable regions of the world, including Africa and Asia. With the new contribution from Austria, the program will continue its mission of helping millions of people gain access to food, even in the most difficult conditions.
