Ukraine continues to provide humanitarian assistance to countries in need, even in difficult times of war. This time, 500 tons of wheat flour were transferred to Syria as part of the Grain from Ukraine program. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The specified assistance is aimed at supporting Syrian families in crisis conditions. According to calculations, the humanitarian batch will cover about 33,250 families, which is more than 167 thousand people. Each family will receive a 15-kilogram package of flour, which should be enough for five people for one month.
President Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine seeks to support the Syrian people in these difficult times. "As promised, we are extending a helping hand. We wish Syria stability, security and a speedy recovery. We know very well at what price these things are obtained," he noted in his address.
This project is being implemented in cooperation with the World Food Program. Thanks to its support, the process of delivering and distributing humanitarian aid has been organized as quickly as possible. It is expected that the distribution of flour to Syrian families will be completed within the next few weeks.
This gesture is another example of how Ukraine, even in a state of war, remains an active participant in global humanitarian initiatives. The Grain from Ukraine program is aimed at combating the food crisis in different parts of the world, and the transfer of flour to Syria is an important component of it.
Assistance to the Syrian people also reflects Ukraine's desire to strengthen international cooperation, as joint actions with partners such as the World Food Program allow us to quickly respond to the needs of people in crisis situations.
