Completion of beet harvesting in Khmelnytskyi region: results and prospects
In the Khmelnytskyi region, the collection of sugar beet, which is one of the key agrarian directions of the region, is being actively completed. According to the regional department of agro-industrial development, more than 85% of the planned areas have already been collected. This year's harvest promises to be good, despite all the difficulties faced by farmers during the season.
The total area on which beets were grown this year is more than 50,000 hectares. The main direction is the cultivation of beets for the needs of sugar factories. Thanks to optimal weather conditions in the summer period, the harvest as a whole promises to be at the level of last year, although some farms experienced difficulties due to unfavorable weather conditions at the beginning of autumn.
According to farmers, the average beet yield today is about 500 quintals per hectare, which is a good indicator. At the same time, the best results are demonstrated by farms that actively use the latest technologies in soil cultivation and irrigation. Taking into account that the average level of productivity in Ukraine fluctuates at the level of 400-450 centners per hectare, the indicators of Khmelnytskyi are among the best.
Among the main problems faced by farmers is the instability of weather conditions. The first months of autumn brought heavy rains, which complicated the process of collecting and transporting root crops. However, thanks to the high professionalism of local farmers and the use of modern technology, it was possible to effectively overcome these difficulties.
A special role in the harvesting of sugar beets is played by local sugar factories, which provide support to farmers and ensure stable demand for products. Important partners for farmers are enterprises such as the Kamianets-Podilskyi sugar factory and other local producers, which actively cooperate with farms and purchase beets for further processing.
In conclusion, it can be noted that despite the challenges that accompanied this year's season, Khmelnytskyi remains one of the leaders in the cultivation of beets in Ukraine. Agriculture in the region has great prospects for the coming years, as investments in the latest technologies and growing demand for sugar beets can be a guarantee of further development of this important industry.
In general, the completion of the beet harvest in Khmelnytskyi region is an important stage for the agricultural sector, which continues to develop and provides a stable economic contribution to the regional economy.
