Despite the sanctions, Belarus continues to import wood from Poland

Belarus continues to import wood from Poland, despite sanctions imposed against it in connection with the political crisis. According to the Ukrainian Research Institute of Forestry and Agroforestry, in 2023 the volume of wood imports from Poland to Belarus increased by 15% compared to the previous year.

Poland has become one of the main suppliers of wood for Belarus. The significant increase in import volumes indicates that the demand for this product remains high in Belarus, despite the imposed sanctions. This may be due to the fact that wood is an important building material and is used in many areas of the economy.

However, the situation with the import of wood from Poland may become the object of attention of international organizations and state structures. At the same time, new restrictions or sanctions are possible, which may complicate the trade of this product between countries.

On the other hand, the high demand for Polish wood in Belarus may indicate that local producers cannot meet all the country's needs for this product. This may be due to insufficient development of forestry and processing industry in Belarus.
