Ukrainian farmers will receive compensation for the cost of clearing agricultural land, which will be a key part of an ambitious government program. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a government meeting, emphasizing plans to return 80% of potentially mined areas to operation in less than 10 years.

In 2023, more than 200,000 hectares of agricultural land were returned to use after surveying and clearing, and this process is expected to be further accelerated. The Prime Minister revealed plans that include attracting innovative developments in the field of demining, creating joint production of demining equipment with partners, training specialists and developing the market for mine action operators.

The state budget for 2024 provides for a significant amount of funds for this initiative, including UAH 3 billion to compensate farmers and other landowners. These funds are intended for those who will use the services of demining operators and will help implement the latest approaches to the safe use of agricultural land.
