  • Ukraine and Romania to jointly develop a grain export control plan
    Опубликовано: 2023-09-22 13:08:26

Ukraine and Romania will jointly develop a grain export control plan aimed at protecting Romanian farmers. This was announced by Romanian Agriculture Minister Florin Barbu on Monday, September 20, according to Reuters.

Barbu noted that "export licenses for Ukrainian companies will come into effect in 30 days". During this time, Romania will develop a clear import licensing procedure for Romanian farmers and processors.

This measure is the result of joint efforts by Ukraine and Romania to control grain exports and protect the Romanian domestic market from excessive price increases.

"I am confident that this mechanism, proposed by the European Commission, adopted by Ukraine and agreed upon by us in the interests of farmers, will be fully operational," Barbu emphasized.

According to the minister, grain export licenses will be issued exclusively to Romanian farmers and food processors who need to replenish their stocks. This initiative is aimed at supporting the Romanian domestic market and limiting the ability of intermediaries to export grain.

It is reported that food safety checks will also be carried out for all imports to ensure the quality of products imported to the Romanian market.
