Ukraine expects the intensification of the development of biomethane production, as well as the modernization of irrigation and drainage systems with the support of international partners. One of the key participants in these processes may be the European Investment Bank, which has expressed interest in financing the relevant areas.

This was reported by the Ministry of Economy. The department noted that the issues of land reclamation development, water resources management and support for the biomethane sector became central during the negotiations between the Ukrainian side and representatives of the European Investment Bank.

Representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine took part in the meeting. Together with international partners, they discussed the implementation of investment projects in the field of land reclamation, as well as the prospects for updating the infrastructure related to irrigation and drainage systems.

The parties paid special attention to the implementation of the irrigation and drainage development strategy until 2030. This is a set of measures aimed at increasing the efficiency of water resources use, improving the condition of agricultural lands and increasing the resilience of agriculture to climate challenges.

In addition, the meeting participants discussed the need to modernize the land reclamation infrastructure and create conditions for the formation of a sustainable biomethane market in Ukraine. The government and international partners consider this direction as promising for energy transformation and the development of the agricultural sector.

It is expected that the development of biomethane production and the modernization of water management systems will help the Ukrainian agricultural sector better adapt to the consequences of climate change. It should also contribute to Ukraine's integration into the European Union market and the expansion of cooperation with European institutions.
