In Ukraine, an increase in live pig purchase prices is expected from May 18 to 24, 2026. According to industry experts, the cost may increase to UAH 76–77 per kilogram.
Analysts explain that the expected increase is formed under the influence of the situation on the domestic and world markets.
The forecast is based on an analysis of current pork consumption in Ukraine, changes in the supply and demand ratio, as well as seasonal factors. External factors also have an impact - in particular, import volumes, currency fluctuations and the situation on international meat markets.
In April, live pig purchase prices in Ukraine were within UAH 80–82 per kilogram. As of April 1, the weighted average market price was UAH 80.6/kg.
Representatives of the meat processing industry note that the current level of supply generally corresponds to the current trading activity. This indicates a relative balance between producers and processors, although the market remains sensitive to seasonal fluctuations.
Active price dynamics are also observed on European markets. On the German VEZG exchange, the cost of half-carcasses of conditioned pigs for the next week is set at 1.60 euros per kilogram, or approximately 82.4 UAH/kg. Half-carcasses of sows are estimated at 0.73 euros per kilogram, which corresponds to about 37.59 UAH/kg excluding VAT.
In Poland, according to the CennikRolnicze exchange, the average price of live pigs is 4.74 PLN per kilogram, or about 57.50 UAH/kg. At the same time, the market range varies from 3.80 to 5.80 PLN per kilogram, which is equivalent to 46.10–70.36 UAH/kg.
World statistics for 2023–2026 demonstrate a heterogeneous situation in the main markets. According to Eurostat, the average weekly price in the EU is 1.66 euros per kilogram of carcass, down 1%. In Brazil, the figure is 1.11 euros/kg, down 6%, while in the USA prices increased by 3% to 1.78 euros/kg. In Canada, an increase of 1% was also recorded, to 1.33 euros/kg.
Analysts note that a multidirectional trend is forming on the global market: in North America, prices continue to grow, while in the European Union and Latin America, a decline is observed. This creates additional factors of influence on the Ukrainian pork market in the coming weeks.
