  • Ukrainian agricultural exports exceed $22.5 billion: 23 new markets opened
    Опубликовано: 2026-05-11 18:02:07

Ukraine continues to play a key role in ensuring global food security, remaining one of the largest suppliers of grain and oilseed crops. The basis of exports is wheat, corn, sunflower oil and soybeans, which form a significant part of the state's foreign exchange earnings.

According to the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, agricultural products currently provide 56% of the country's total exports and form about 17% of GDP. The total volume of agricultural exports exceeds $22.5 billion.

As of today, 23 new international markets for the supply of agricultural products have already been opened for Ukrainian producers. In addition, the state, together with business, is working to further expand export geography - plans are to open more than 300 new destinations.

The issue of expanding the presence of Ukrainian agricultural products on world markets was discussed during a meeting dedicated to the development of export opportunities. The event was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga and was dedicated to the coordination of actions between state bodies and business.

In 2025, Ukraine opened 19 new export markets, and in 2026 this list was supplemented by Algeria, Côte d'Ivoire, Georgia and Vietnam. Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, the USA and Vietnam were identified as priority areas for further export development.

The state pays special attention to the transition from the export of raw materials to products with higher added value. As the authorities emphasize, this area should ensure long-term growth in the agricultural sector's income and increase the competitiveness of Ukrainian producers.

Deputy Minister of Economy Taras Vysotsky noted that the opening of new markets means new contracts for business, stable supplies and the opportunity to increase production within the country. Priority is given to segments with high added value, in particular poultry farming, pig farming, processing industry and ready-made food products.

Among the results already achieved are the restoration of access of the Myronivska Poultry Farm to the Saudi Arabian market, the fixing of annual quotas for the supply of poultry meat to the EU in the amount of 120 thousand tons, as well as the first remote audit by the European Commission for the export of heat-treated pork.
