The cost of a traditional Easter basket in Ukraine continues to grow, although the rate of price increase in 2026 slowed down somewhat. As of early April, the average price of such a set of products is UAH 998.6, which is 9.43% more than in 2025. The corresponding calculations were published by Economic Truth.
The standard Easter basket includes basic products that are traditionally consecrated for the holiday: eggs, hard cheese, sour milk cheese, bacon, lard and butter. The analysis used average prices formed on the Ministry of Finance portal based on data from various retail chains.
A week before Easter, such a set of products can be assembled for approximately UAH 985. The largest share of expenses is formed by boiled pork, which costs about 345 UAH per half kilogram, and cheese - about 254 UAH. These products have remained the most expensive in the basket for the past five years.
Compared to 2022, prices have almost doubled: then a similar set of products cost about 520 UAH. The most rapid increase in price was recorded in 2023 - immediately by 27%. In 2025, prices also increased significantly - by 24.19%, to 912.52 UAH. In 2026, the inflation rate in this segment decreased to 9.43%, which is the lowest figure in recent years.
According to estimates by the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business (UCAB), the cost of an Easter basket can vary significantly depending on its contents. The basic option (Easter cake, eggs, salt, horseradish and a candle) will cost 482 UAH (+12.7% per year), the average (with cheese, sausage and mustard) - 965 UAH (+13.8%), and the extended one (with Cahors, vegetables and lard) - 1,387 UAH (+17%).
Executive Director of the Economic Discussion Club Oleg Pendzin explains that the increase in prices on the eve of Easter is a seasonal phenomenon that repeats itself every year. The main factor is the increased demand for traditional holiday products. According to him, the active increase in prices begins approximately 20 days before the holiday and reaches its peak in the last week.
At the same time, the expert emphasizes that the current price increase is not critical, and the impact of the increase in fuel costs on product prices remains limited. This indicates the relative stability of the market, despite the general inflationary dynamics.
Separately, the cost of making homemade Easter cakes has increased. In 2026, the basic set of ingredients — flour, eggs, milk, butter and sugar — costs about 260 UAH, which is 6.15% more than last year. The most expensive component is butter, which forms almost 45% of the total cost, in second place are eggs.
According to the Ukrainian Association of Consumers of Ukraine, making 3–4 Easter cakes will cost approximately 357.2 UAH, which is 12.2% more than in 2025. The price increase was most affected by the increase in the price of raisins (+27% to 53.4 UAH per 200 g), butter (+13.1%) and milk (+11.6%). At the same time, some products became cheaper: sugar decreased in price by 12.6%, vanillin - by 26.8% (to 6 UAH), and powdered sugar - by 2.5% (to 6.7 UAH).
The agricultural association notes that the dairy market is gradually stabilizing due to a decrease in purchase prices for raw materials and a seasonal increase in milk yields. However, this mainly applies to products with a short shelf life, while in the segment of durable goods prices remain high due to previous energy costs.
Relative stability is observed in the meat market before the holidays. In particular, pork neck increased in price by 3% per month - to 325 UAH per kilogram (+7% in annual terms), while the price of lard did not change during the month, but increased by 15% per year and is about 274 UAH per kilogram.
