The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to expand state support for aquaculture throughout the country. The relevant amendments to Resolution No. 1409 of December 10, 2024 were made on April 1, 2026, the Ministry of Economy reports.
Now, enterprises engaged in breeding, keeping and growing freshwater fish can receive compensation of up to 20% of costs, regardless of the region of activity. Previously, such state support was available only for farms in frontline and war-affected areas, where the level of compensation reached up to 30%.
The government also clarified the conditions for the age groups of fish seedlings to which financial assistance applies. At the same time, the key areas of support remain unchanged: this concerns partial reimbursement of costs for growing fish seedlings for sale, as well as compensation for the cost of its purchase for stocking reservoirs with the aim of producing marketable products.
The Ministry of Economy expects that the expansion of the program will contribute to increasing production capacities, active restoration of aquatic bioresources, and increasing the availability of fish products on the domestic market. In addition, the government expects to reduce the cost of production and increase the competitiveness of the industry.
As Taras Vysotsky noted, the decision will allow enterprises to more actively restore production cycles and invest in development, while maintaining a focus on supporting farms in the affected regions. This is important for the stability and development of the fishing sector in conditions of economic and security instability.
Legal entities and individual entrepreneurs for whom aquaculture is the main type of activity can submit applications for compensation. The acceptance of documents will continue until November 1 through the State Agrarian Register. After that, regional commissions will consider applications and send summarized information to the Ministry of Economy for final approval.
This government decision opens up new opportunities for the development of aquaculture in Ukraine and ensures equal support conditions for all regions of the country, stimulating investments and improving the efficiency of the industry.
