  • Ukraine and Lebanon plan to expand trade and create an agricultural and logistics hub
    Опубликовано: 2026-03-09 13:04:28

Ukraine and Lebanon discussed the possibilities of intensifying economic cooperation and increasing bilateral trade volumes. One of the key areas of interaction could be the creation of a special agricultural and logistics hub for Ukrainian products in Lebanon. Representatives of the Lebanese government announced their interest in such a partnership format during a meeting with the Ukrainian delegation.

According to the Minister of Economy and Trade of the Republic of Lebanon, Amer Bisat, Beirut seeks not only to increase the total volume of trade with Ukraine, but also to expand the list of goods supplied between the two states. The Lebanese side considers Ukraine to be an important economic partner, especially in the field of agricultural products.

Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Ihor Bezkaravayny stressed that Kyiv is also interested in long-term strategic cooperation with Lebanon. According to him, the creation of a food and logistics hub can be an important tool for expanding Ukraine's presence in the Middle East markets.

He emphasized that such a project is important not only for the development of trade. Due to its geographical location, Lebanon can serve as a key trade gateway for Ukrainian goods in the region. This will also contribute to strengthening the food security of the Middle East countries, which are largely dependent on food imports.

During the negotiations, the parties also touched upon the issue of cooperation in the field of mine action. The Ukrainian side expressed its readiness to share practical experience in demining territories, as well as in conducting further land restoration work - in particular, reclamation and remediation of soils after clearing them of explosive objects.

A regional mine action center is currently being created in Lebanon, where it is planned to train demining specialists for various Middle Eastern countries. Ukraine proposed to involve its experts in the work of the center, who could teach and transfer the unique experience gained during large-scale demining operations in war conditions.

A separate topic of discussion was the use of innovative technologies in humanitarian demining. In particular, the use of drones equipped with special sensors that help detect explosive objects faster and safer was discussed. Such technologies can significantly increase the effectiveness of mine action operations and reduce risks for sappers.
