In early March 2026, the Ukrainian apple market recorded a noticeable increase in retail prices. According to EastFruit, prices for high-quality varietal apples in Ukrainian supermarkets have already reached approximately UAH 70 per kilogram.
In particular, the popular varieties Golden Delicious and Red Chief are sold at a price of about UAH 70/kg (EUR 1.4/kg). Kateryna Zvereva, Development Director of the Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association (UPOA), noted that a few years ago, such prices seemed unlikely.
Experts call the main reason for the price increase damage to orchards by winter frosts, especially stone crops, as well as apples. Because of this, the risks of further price increases remain high, analysts warn.
For comparison, a few years ago, the average price of apples in Ukraine fluctuated at the level of 15–20 UAH per kilogram, which indicates a significant jump in the cost of products.
According to experts, general economic factors also led to the increase in prices: inflationary pressure, higher energy prices, logistics and storage costs. An additional factor is the reduction in the supply of quality apples at the end of the season, which forces sellers to increase retail prices.
Thus, Ukrainian consumers are faced with record high prices for apples, and producers and traders predict further volatility in the market due to weather and economic risks.
