Biodiesel production in Ukraine is becoming one of the strategic directions for ensuring the country's energy security. Due to the presence of over 16 thousand potential suppliers of raw materials, it is possible to form production clusters with an annual capacity of 20–100 thousand tons of fuel, which allows you to increase your own production and reduce dependence on imports, reports YC.Market.
The largest concentration of raw material supplier companies is concentrated in the central and eastern regions of Ukraine. The leaders in terms of the number of enterprises are Kirovohrad region (1,712 companies) and Dnipropetrovsk region (1,532). This list also includes Poltava (1,418 companies), Vinnytsia (1,357) and Odesa regions (1,221).
These regions provide a stable supply of rapeseed and soybeans for industrial enterprises, which allows you to form effective production chains and optimize the logistics of raw materials. The development of biodiesel clusters not only stimulates energy independence, but also creates new jobs in the regions.
In terms of cities, the largest number of agricultural enterprises-suppliers is registered in Kyiv — 179 companies, Mykolaiv — 83 and Kropyvnytskyi — 56. This creates opportunities for the integration of urban and regional production capacities and ensuring a stable supply of raw materials for biodiesel plants.
Analysts note that the formation of such production clusters allows enterprises not only to increase biofuel production, but also to improve product quality, introduce new technologies and expand export potential.
Thus, Ukraine has significant potential for the development of its own biodiesel sector. Systematic involvement of raw material suppliers and strategic placement of plants can make the country self-sufficient in the production of alternative fuels and strengthen energy security for the coming years.
