State Enterprise Forests of Ukraine has announced the start of the main quarterly timber auctions for the second quarter of 2026. Responding to market demands, the enterprise is increasing sales volumes to over 1.5 million cubic meters of timber of various species, which is 250 thousand m³ more than usual.
According to the press service of State Enterprise Forests of Ukraine, the auctions will include pine, oak, birch and alder timber, as well as coniferous firewood. In particular, 820 thousand m³ of pine timber will be exhibited (100 thousand m³ more than in the previous quarter), 100 thousand m³ of oak timber (+5 thousand m³), 100 thousand m³ of birch and alder timber (+25 thousand m³), and 550 thousand m³ of coniferous firewood (+120 thousand m³).
The total volume of supplies for the second quarter of 2026 is 3.3 million m³. Of these, 2.3 million m³ are intended for auctions, including forward contracts, and 1 million m³ will be directed to the needs of defense, the social sphere and households. Starting prices are formed at the level of the first quarter of 2026, which corresponds to the indicators of the end of 2025, taking into account the consumer price index.
At the moment, the enterprise's warehouses store 851 thousand m³ of wood. However, despite the business's request for additional resources, the implementation of current contracts is uneven - there is currently a backlog of about 180 thousand m³. The State Enterprise "Forests of Ukraine" notes that previous years showed low purchase of the proposed volumes, which creates certain risks for the new bidding season.
At the same time, timber procurement continues to grow due to high demand on foreign markets and the strengthening of the euro exchange rate, which makes exports more profitable. Experts note that the real situation on the market and the willingness of businesses to purchase the proposed volumes will become clear during the bidding.
Analysts predict that, given stable demand and participant activity, timber prices will remain at the level of previous periods. At the same time, the enterprise emphasizes the importance of complying with contractual obligations and being ready to adapt sales volumes in accordance with market needs.
