The Ukrainian fruit and vegetable market has recorded an increase in the cost of one of the key vegetables in the borscht set - table beets. This was reported by the EastFruit analytical platform, which tracks price dynamics in the agricultural sector.

According to analysts, Ukrainian farms are currently selling table beets at prices from 6 to 11 UAH per kilogram. On average, this is about 15% more expensive than a week earlier, which indicates a noticeable revival of price dynamics in this segment.

Experts note that the possibility of increasing selling prices is due to several factors at once. The key among them is the growth in demand for products, which is observed from various sales channels.

In particular, both wholesale companies and retail chains are active buyers of table beets. This creates additional pressure on the market and supports the trend towards price increases.

At the same time, the supply of beets remains somewhat limited. Some producers refrain from actively selling their products, expecting further price increases, which further reduces the volume of goods on the market.

Despite the current price increase, analysts emphasize that current prices are still significantly lower than last year. As of today, table beets in Ukraine are sold on average 47% cheaper than in the same period last year.

Market participants also draw attention to the likely temporary nature of this trend. In their opinion, further price increases may stimulate farmers to more actively sell off stocks from storage, which will lead to an increase in supply and, as a result, to a downward price correction.
