Further adjustment of purchase prices is expected on the Ukrainian pork market. According to the forecast of experts from the Meat Industry Association, in the period from January 12 to 18, 2026, the cost of live weight pigs may decrease to the level of UAH 63–65 per kilogram.

Experts note that the forecast is based on a comprehensive analysis of the current situation in the industry. In particular, the level of domestic pork consumption, changes in the structure of demand and supply, as well as key factors affecting the meat market: seasonality, import volumes, currency fluctuations and general economic conditions were taken into account.

Back in early autumn, the situation on the market was much more stable. Until the beginning of October, purchase prices for live weight pigs were kept in the range of UAH 97–100 and above per kilogram for about a month and a half. As of October 2, the average purchase price, according to the latest available data, was UAH 97.6/kg.

In previous reviews, experts noted that the balance between supply and demand ensured relative stability of prices for both live and chilled pork. At that time, only a moderate decrease in cost was allowed — within UAH 2–3/kg — against the backdrop of weakening demand and a gradual increase in supply, but no significant drop was predicted.

The situation on external markets also remains an important benchmark for Ukrainian producers. On the German VEZG exchange, the price of half-carcasses of conditioned pigs for the next week is EUR 1.45 per kilogram, which is equivalent to UAH 73.17/kg, while half-carcasses of sows are quoted at EUR 0.70 per kilogram, or UAH 35.33/kg. All prices are quoted excluding VAT.

In Poland, according to the CennikRolnicze exchange, the average price of live pigs is PLN 4.09 per kilogram, or about UAH 48.67/kg. At the same time, the price range is quite wide - from PLN 3.40 to PLN 5.30 per kilogram, which corresponds to UAH 40.46–63.07/kg in Ukrainian currency.

The global dynamics of pork prices shows similar trends in key markets. In the EU countries, the average price of slaughter weight is EUR 1.55 per kilogram, down 1%. In Brazil, the price remains at EUR 1.67 per kilogram, unchanged, in the USA - EUR 1.30 per kilogram, also unchanged, while in Canada the figure is EUR 1.32 per kilogram, down slightly by 1%.

Thus, the European and American markets are showing downward dynamics, while the Canadian and Latin American segments remain relatively stable. These global trends, together with domestic factors, form the prerequisites for a decrease in the purchase prices for liveweight pigs in Ukraine in the second half of January 2026.
