Kernel Agroholding has reached an agreement to acquire Agro-Region Group, Latifundist reports, citing sources close to the deal. The parties are currently moving on to formal procedures and are awaiting the decision of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine on the merger permit.
According to sources, this is Kernel’s second attempt to buy Agro-Region during the full-scale war. Previous negotiations collapsed due to differences in price offers, but the current deal provides for the full acquisition of the company, including corporate rights, land bank, equipment, and grain elevator capacity. The company’s estimated value is around $100–110 million.
Agro-Region owns a land bank of approximately 41 thousand hectares in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr and Khmelnytsky regions, which allows the company to enter the top 100 agricultural enterprises of Ukraine in terms of land size. The main profile of the company is the cultivation of grain and oilseed crops.
According to sources, the agreement provides for the preservation of existing agricultural facilities and elevator equipment, which will provide Kernel with further integration of logistics and production processes.
The beneficiaries of Agro-Region through the company GARNA STOCKHOLM HOLDING AB are Aivaras Abromavicius and Lars Peter Elam Håkansson. The transfer of corporate rights to Kernel will be the final stage of the deal after receiving regulatory approval.
Analysts believe that the acquisition of Agro-Region will allow Kernel to increase its land bank and strengthen its position in the grain and oilseed market. The agreement is also expected to contribute to increasing the efficiency of operations and optimizing logistics flows in the central and northern regions of Ukraine.
