During the first decade of December 2025, Ukrainian Railways transported 872.3 thousand tons of grain for export. This is 9% more than in the same period in November, but 3.2% less than in December last year. Such data was published by RAIL.insider.
According to Valery Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Department of Transportation Technology and Commercial Work of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, most grain cargo goes to seaports. About 90% of all exports are transported by sea, which confirms the critical role of port infrastructure for Ukraine's agricultural exports. Another 10% of cargo passes through land border crossings on the western borders.
In total, the railway transported 940.3 thousand tons of grain cargo in the first ten days of December, including domestic deliveries, which is 2.8% more than in November. This indicates stable activity in grain logistics even in the winter period.
At the same time, the rate of grain loading directly at railway stations in December decreased slightly. It amounted to 784.9 thousand tons, which is 5.7% less than in November and 6% less than in the same period last year. This decrease is explained by seasonal fluctuations and the activity of transportation through sea ports.
As for the transfer of grain cargo to neighboring countries, the average daily volume of transportation increased in all directions. On average, the railway transferred 206 wagons of grain and meal per day. Hungary remains the leader in the number of cargoes - 49.7 wagons pass through its border daily. Slovakia receives 34.3 wagons, Poland - 13.8 wagons per day, and Romania increased the average daily figure by 1.4 wagons, reaching 12.8 wagons per day.
Thus, December transportation shows not only the growth of grain exports, but also the stable operation of railway logistics in the direction of both seaports and western borders. The positive dynamics of average daily deliveries confirms the readiness of Ukrainian railways to ensure regular export of agricultural products to the EU and other international markets.
