Ukrainian wheat exports in November 2025 showed a temporary slowdown
Ukrainian wheat exports in November 2025 showed a temporary slowdown. According to APK Inform, 1.1 million tons of grain were delivered to international markets, which is 19% less than in November last year.
In the first five months of the 2025/26 marketing year (MY), Ukraine shipped about 7.3 million tons of wheat. This is 20% less compared to the same period last year and is only 44% of the projected export potential. Experts explain this by a combination of logistical and economic factors, in particular, problems with ship freight, queues at ports and strategic grain holding by agricultural holdings in anticipation of price increases.
The geography of Ukrainian exports remains relatively stable. The main buyers of wheat this season were Egypt, Indonesia and Algeria. Egypt accounts for 27% of total exports, Indonesia for 19%, and Algeria for 13%.
Egypt, as one of the largest grain importers in the world, has significantly increased its purchases. In the first five months of the season, the country purchased 2 million tons of Ukrainian wheat, which is significantly higher than the 664 thousand tons shipped in the same period last year.
Algeria also showed a noticeable increase in imports. During this period, it purchased 932 thousand tons of wheat, while last season this volume was 526 thousand tons. This confirms the stable demand for Ukrainian grain in North Africa.
At the same time, Indonesia, traditionally a large buyer of Ukrainian wheat, reduced its purchases by 9%. In five months, the country purchased 1.41 million tons of grain, while last season this figure was 1.55 million tons. Analysts note that such fluctuations are explained by internal factors of demand and supply in Indonesia itself, as well as global fluctuations in grain prices.
Ukrainian farmers and traders continue to monitor the situation, as further export dynamics will depend on both international demand and the logistical capabilities of ports and sea transportation.
