A large-scale work is underway in Ukraine to demine territories affected by hostilities. From January to November 2025, specialists cleared 34,300 hectares of agricultural land from explosives. In total, more than 43,000 hectares of territories have been surveyed since the beginning of the year, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports.

The current progress in demining was discussed during a meeting of the National Mine Action Authority, which was chaired by First Deputy Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Ivan Havrylyuk. He emphasized that a number of important decisions were made that will significantly affect the further development and increase the effectiveness of mine action in the country.

One of the key decisions was the introduction of priority involvement of government mine action operators in conducting non-technical surveys of agricultural lands. This will allow to accelerate the identification of potentially dangerous territories and to start their clearance in a timely manner, which is critically important for the restoration of agricultural production.

Currently, the certified mine action operators include 41 demining units of the security and defense forces. They will be the main force that will be involved in the initial stage of the survey of territories. At the same time, if necessary, non-profit organizations with appropriate competence and experience will also be able to join the process.

The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that the implementation of the adopted decisions will contribute to better coordination between all participants in mine action. This, in turn, will ensure better and more efficient performance of work and increase the level of safety for the population living in territories where demining is ongoing or has already been completed.

Demining of agricultural lands is one of the state's priorities, because it is these territories that ensure the country's food security and its economic stability. New approaches to coordinating processes allow us to hope for further acceleration of the cleansing of Ukrainian lands from the consequences of the war.
