The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the procedure for the functioning of the electronic system "e-Fishery", which aims to significantly facilitate the work of entrepreneurs in the fisheries sector. This involves simplifying the processes of document processing and obtaining permits, which can now be done online.
According to the Ministry of Economy, the new system will reduce the time for issuing permits from 30 days to just 2 days. This will not only increase the speed of business services, but also reduce administrative pressure, as well as the risks of corruption abuses in the sector.
A key advantage will also be the access of entrepreneurs to current data on the state of fish resources and the current rules for their use. Thanks to this, companies will be able to plan their activities and manage production processes more effectively, avoiding unforeseen risks.
Automation of document flow will give a tangible economic effect. According to the government's calculations, the abandonment of paper procedures will provide businesses with annual savings of about UAH 150 million. This will be an additional incentive for the development of entrepreneurship in the fisheries sector.
The introduction of "e-Fishing" will also have a macroeconomic impact. It is expected that de-shadowing of processes will allow to replenish the budget by UAH 15–150 million annually. In addition, bringing illegal fishing out of the shadows can increase the gross domestic income of the industry by up to UAH 500 million annually.
Thus, digitalization in the fisheries sector will be an important step not only to simplify the work of entrepreneurs, but also to increase the transparency of the industry, combat illegal fishing, and increase revenues to the state budget.
