In August 2025, the demining units of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine achieved significant results in the field of humanitarian demining. During the month, 5,973 hectares of territories contaminated with explosive objects were cleared. This is another important step towards restoring safe life in liberated communities, the press service of the department reported.

The largest amount of work fell on agricultural lands - 5,653.77 hectares. This allows farmers to start sowing campaigns and restore agricultural production, which is key to the Ukrainian economy. In addition, sappers worked on clearing infrastructure facilities necessary for the normal functioning of the regions.

In particular, 66.94 kilometers of railway tracks were demined, which makes it possible to restore transport connections, important for both civilian transportation and logistics. Additionally, 7.64 kilometers of roads, 15.09 kilometers of power lines, and 9.74 hectares of water bodies were cleared. Each of these areas of work contributes to the return to normal activity of local communities.

During August, sappers discovered and neutralized 8,410 explosive devices. In total, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, specialists have already destroyed 458,714 units of dangerous ammunition and mines, which poses a large-scale threat to the civilian population and the economy.

An important component of this process is the participation of certified mine action operators. As of today, there are 119 of them in Ukraine, and during August alone, nine new organizations received certification. This means that the scale of work is gradually increasing, and more and more professional teams are being involved in the humanitarian demining process.

Demining remains one of the most difficult and at the same time most important missions in the post-war reconstruction of territories. Thanks to the systematic work of sappers, Ukrainians are able to return to their homes, restore their economy, and establish life in liberated regions, where until recently there was a direct threat to life and health.
