The initiative to create the first modern vegetable storage facility in the region with a capacity of up to 1,000 tons has been launched in Sumy region. The project was launched by the farm "Healthy and Tasty" in cooperation with the Department of Agroindustrial Development of the Sumy Regional State Administration. Its goal is to ensure stable supplies of high-quality vegetables for catering establishments, the social sector and the local population.

This was reported by the founder of the farm "Healthy and Tasty" Inna Pashchenko in a comment to the publication Agrotimes.ua. According to her, currently there is no full-fledged vegetable storage facility in the Sumy region, which significantly complicates the provision of fresh vegetables in the off-season.

"HoReCa and social sector establishments in Sumy and Konotop cannot quickly and in the required volume purchase vegetables for the borscht set. Due to complex logistics, there is a periodic shortage of vegetables on the local market, especially in the winter and spring periods,” explained Pashchenko.

The “Healthy and Tasty” farm has 5 hectares of land and specializes in growing vegetables, fruits, and berries both in open and closed ground. The company considers the vegetable storage project as a strategic step towards the development of local food infrastructure.

To implement the idea, the initiators are actively looking for investors. They expect that business support will not only allow the construction of a vegetable storage, but also create jobs and strengthen the food security of the region.

If successfully implemented, the project can become an example for other regions of Ukraine, where there is a similar need for local storage and supply chains for vegetable products.
