A sharp decline in prices for blueberries, a berry traditionally considered one of the most expensive on the market, has been recorded in Ukraine. Over the past few days, the cost of blueberries on farms has decreased by an average of 25%, as evidenced by the daily monitoring data of the EastFruit project.

Today, Ukrainian farmers sell the main batches of blueberries at a price of 220 to 380 UAH per kilogram, while last week most of them did not agree to shipment for less than 300 UAH/kg. Such a price drop was a consequence of the start of mass harvesting, which significantly increased the supply of berries on the market.

In addition to the growth in blueberry volumes, pricing is also affected by the saturation of the market with other summer berries and fruits that are more affordable. This intensifies competition for the consumer and further puts pressure on the cost of premium berries.

Despite the decrease in price, blueberry prices remain significantly higher than last year. On average, they are 2.6 times higher than in the same period in 2024. Analysts explain this by a decrease in yield: unstable and abnormal weather conditions in the flowering and ripening phases led to production losses.

Moreover, in 2025, weather conditions were even less favorable for growing blueberries. Spring frosts, temperature drops, and local downpours negatively affected the volume and quality of the harvest. As a result, for the third year in a row, the cost of blueberries at the beginning of the season is increasing.

Thus, the current price drop should be considered as a short-term market reaction to increased supply. Further dynamics will depend on the stability of the weather, harvest volumes, and the level of domestic demand. Market participants expect that with high demand in the export segment, the price may stabilize closer to the middle of the season.
