Sunflower market in Ukraine: new price guidelines
In Ukraine, data on purchase prices for sunflower have been updated. As of the end of April 2025, the cost of this strategic oilseed crop has changed somewhat on the domestic market. In particular, in most regions of the country, fluctuations in the purchase price are recorded within the range of 15,300 to 15,800 hryvnias per ton.
In the central regions, in particular in Kirovohrad and Poltava regions, processing enterprises offer an average of 15,500–15,700 hryvnias/t. This is several hundred hryvnias more than at the beginning of the month. At the same time, in southern regions, such as Mykolaiv and Kherson regions, prices remain closer to the lower limit – 15,300–15,500 hryvnias/t.
A slightly higher price level is observed in the western part of Ukraine. For example, in Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi and Lviv regions, purchase prices are approaching UAH 15,800/t. This dynamics is partly explained by logistics costs and the region’s focus on exports.
The change in the price situation is also influenced by the international situation. In particular, demand for Ukrainian sunflower oil from Turkey and the EU countries remains consistently high. This supports the interest of processing enterprises in purchasing raw materials at competitive prices.
Experts note that the domestic market remains limited in sunflower supply, as some farmers hold on to their remaining products in anticipation of further price increases. Such a strategy creates additional pressure on processors, forcing them to increase purchase prices.
It is expected that sunflower prices will remain at the current level or show a slight increase in the coming weeks, especially if international markets continue to support the high cost of sunflower oil.
