JSC Ukrzaliznytsia announced a significant increase in the average daily speed of its own freight rolling stock. According to the company's press service, the speed has increased by 38%, which should positively affect transportation efficiency and make services more profitable for customers.

The relevant changes came into force on June 16, 2025 and will remain relevant until December 31, 2025. According to experts, the acceleration of transportation will significantly reduce the time for freight transportation and, as a result, reduce users' costs for car rental, because the total fee decreases for a shorter period of use.

The speed increase covers a wide range of freight rolling stock, including:

grain trucks,
tank cars,
covered wagons,
cement trucks,
converted specialized rolling stock,
piggyback platforms,
fitting platforms.

The company notes that the innovation is part of a strategy to optimize logistics processes and increase the competitiveness of rail transport in the freight market. The speed increase will allow businesses to better plan supply chains and respond more quickly to changes in demand.

Ukrzaliznytsia expects that the updated speed standards will stimulate growth in transportation volumes and strengthen partnerships with shippers, who are increasingly choosing rail transport as a reliable and economical logistics option.

These changes are one of the company's steps towards the modernization and digitalization of the railway sector, which, according to UZ management, remains a key priority during a period of full-scale war and the reconstruction of the country's economy.
