During the official visit of President Volodymyr Zelensky to Vienna, Ukraine and Austria signed an important memorandum that opens a new page in the agricultural partnership between the two countries. The document provides for a wide expansion of cooperation in the agricultural sector, including the exchange of experience, joint educational programs and access to new markets for Ukrainian farmers.
Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaly Koval, who signed the memorandum, emphasized that this agreement is not only economic, but also strategic. Its implementation will strengthen Ukraine's integration into the European agricultural space and contribute to the introduction of modern environmental practices in agriculture.
The Austrian side was represented by Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Regional Development and Water Resources Management Norbert Totchnig. According to him, Austria is ready to share its technologies, innovative approaches to sustainable development of the agricultural sector, as well as support Ukraine in the reforms necessary for full European integration.
The memorandum covers a number of key areas. In particular, it concerns the exchange of technologies in crop and livestock production, the development of environmentally friendly and sustainable agriculture, as well as cooperation in scientific research. One of the important components of the document is the promotion of international student exchange between agricultural educational institutions of the two countries.
Particular attention is paid to the development of animal and plant breeding industries, which is of strategic importance for ensuring Ukraine's food security. Within the framework of cooperation, it is also planned to create joint ventures that will allow Ukrainian agricultural producers to gain a foothold in the European market and increase the competitiveness of products.
As Minister Koval concluded, this memorandum is a tool for strengthening economic ties and at the same time a powerful incentive for the development of Ukrainian agriculture according to European standards. He expressed confidence that the partnership with Austria will give impetus to innovative transformations in the agricultural sector and strengthen Ukraine's position as a reliable player in the international food market.
