Ukraine continues to hold the position of one of the world's leading grain exporters. As of June 13, 2025, the country has already shipped 39.586 million tons of grain and leguminous crops within the 2024/2025 marketing year, which traditionally covers the period from July to June. Of this volume, 1.214 million tons were exported in June alone.
For comparison, for the same period of the last marketing year, as of June 12, 2024, the export volume was 48.381 million tons, which is almost 9 million tons more. In June last year, exports amounted to 1.449 million tons, which also exceeds this year's rates.
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the main export crops remain corn and wheat. In particular, since the beginning of the season, Ukraine has exported:
21.289 million tons of corn, of which 713 thousand tons in June;
15.392 million tons of wheat, in June - 495 thousand tons;
2.312 million tons of barley (7 thousand tons in June);
10.8 thousand tons of rye - deliveries were not made in June.
Demand for Ukrainian flour also remains stable. Over the 11.5 months of the season, 67.5 thousand tons of flour were exported, of which 2.5 thousand tons - in June. The bulk is wheat flour - 63 thousand tons in total, of which 2.4 thousand tons were exported in June.
It is significant that in March 2025 alone, the volume of exported grain reached 3.206 million tons, which indicates a certain slowdown in shipments in the last months of the season. As of the end of March, cumulative exports since the beginning of the marketing year amounted to 32.389 million tons, i.e. in two and a half months, the volumes increased by more than 7 million tons.
Despite geopolitical challenges, logistical difficulties and difficult weather conditions, the Ukrainian agricultural sector demonstrates resilience, ensuring stable volumes of supplies to external markets. However, the decline in export rates compared to last year may indicate the need to improve logistics routes, in particular sea corridors, which continue to remain critically important for agricultural exports.
