The first raspberry harvest in greenhouse tunnels has started in Cherkasy region

The season for harvesting early raspberries grown in tunnel shelters has officially begun in Cherkasy region. This cultivation method allows you to significantly accelerate the appearance of the harvest compared to traditional open plantings. Tunnels that provide protection from weather fluctuations helped to get the first berries in early June.

The harvest is carried out on berry plantations, where raspberries are grown in high tunnels with a film coating. Such an environment creates favorable conditions for the ripening of berries, reduces the impact of frost and excessive moisture, and also prevents the spread of diseases. Thanks to this, farmers can count on stable quality and a larger volume of early products.

The first harvest, according to local farmers, is a sign of the successful implementation of modern agricultural technologies. Compared to open plantings, raspberries in tunnels ripen 2–3 weeks earlier. This allows Ukrainian producers to take a more advantageous position in the fresh berry market, especially during a period when competition from other regions and countries is still insignificant.

Tunnel cultivation technology, which is widely used in Western Europe, is gradually taking root in Ukraine. Cherkasy region is one of the regions that is actively implementing innovative approaches in berry growing. In addition to early harvest times, another advantage is the reduction of the impact of weather risks, which in recent years have increasingly become critical for the agricultural sector.

Due to the high quality of the fruits, raspberries from Cherkasy region are in demand not only on the domestic market, but also have potential for export. Farmers hope that the early start of the season will allow them to get a better price for their products and consolidate their positions among the leading berry producers in Ukraine.

The harvest is underway, and farmers are already preparing for peak volumes in the coming weeks. With favorable weather and stable demand for berries, the season is expected to be successful and profitable. Such a start to summer in the Cherkasy region is a good sign for all participants in the berry market.
