In May 2025, Ukraine significantly increased its beef exports, taking advantage of the favorable situation on world markets. Despite the reduction in production in a number of countries, Ukrainian products were able to find new buyers and ensure an increase in foreign exchange earnings. This is evidenced by data from the Milk Producers Association.
During the reporting period, Ukrainian suppliers exported 1,400 tons of liveweight cattle. This is 25% less than in April 2025, but an impressive 166% more than in May 2024. At the same time, profits from this segment amounted to $ 2.89 million - although 47% less than in April, but as much as 273% more than in May last year.
In total, in the first five months of 2025, Ukraine exported 8.5 thousand tons of liveweight cattle, which is 126% more than in the same period in 2024. Revenues from these exports reached $18.85 million, demonstrating an annual growth of 196%.
A noticeable revival also occurred in the fresh or chilled beef segment. In May, 21 tons of such products were delivered to foreign markets, which is almost 10 times (984%) higher than the volume in April. However, compared to May 2024, this is 91% less. Revenue amounted to $137 thousand — 493% more than in April, but again 91% less in annual terms. In January-May 2025, 65.5 tons of chilled beef were exported, which is 93% less than last year, with a total revenue of $407.1 thousand (also -93%).
The most stable growth is demonstrated by the frozen beef category. In May 2025, its exports reached 1.91 thousand tons - 6% more than in April and 19% more than in May last year. Revenue amounted to almost $7.78 million, which is 9% more than in the previous month and 23% more than last year.
As a result, in January-May 2025, Ukraine exported 7.96 thousand tons of frozen beef - 18% more than in 2024. Revenues from this sector amounted to $30.7 million, an 8% increase compared to the same period last year. These figures indicate a stable recovery and potential of domestic meat exports against the backdrop of global market changes.
