The cost of table beets remains abnormally high on the vegetable market in Ukraine, even despite the start of the 2024 harvest season. Market experts point to limited supply from domestic producers and stable demand from buyers as the main factors supporting record price levels.
According to the analytical portal EastFruit, the volume of new harvest beets entering the market remains insufficient to significantly change the price situation. Demand, on the contrary, is stable and high, which creates the prerequisites for maintaining the cost of the product at peak levels.
Thus, in early June 2025, beets from last year's harvest are sold on the wholesale market within 25–33 UAH per kilogram (equivalent to \.60–0.80), depending on the quality of the product and the volume of batches. Compared to the same period in 2024, this is almost 21% more expensive.
The harvesting of the new harvest of beets began on the usual terms - at about the same time as last year. However, even the new products enter the market at quite high prices - from 32 to 40 UAH per kilogram (\.77–0.96). This is higher than last year's starting prices, which usually decreased immediately after the start of the harvest.
Analysts note that with an increase in the supply of new harvest beets, the market is showing the first signs of a decrease in prices. However, so far these changes are cautious, and no significant reduction in prices is predicted in the short term.
Thus, Ukrainian consumers will continue to have to pay more for beets, at least until the market stabilizes - due to increased supply from farms or reduced demand.
