  • Moldova is actively adapting to European market standards

Moldova is actively adapting to European market standards, introducing new practices in fruit export. Stefan Bitlan, manager of the large exporter Fani SRL, says that this season the company switched to using reusable trays for transporting fruit. This innovation is already helping in the current apricot season. This is reported by freshplaza.

"This year, we started supplying Moldovan fruits in reusable trays from Euro Pool Systems. We delivered the first truckload of apricots in such trays to a chain of stores in Germany, with which we have been cooperating for three years," Bitlan notes.

Fani SRL chose this type of packaging to promote sustainable practices, ensure traceability and improve product quality. According to Bitlan, reusable trays significantly reduce waste and reduce the negative impact on the environment throughout the supply chain. In addition, they allow you to offer B2B customers a wider range of packaging.

"This year, we plan to partially replace the packaging with reusable trays from Euro Pool and IFCO, which are preferred by our customers. We currently supply apricots, and later we will also supply plums in reusable packaging," he adds.

Fani SRL plans to expand the range of products on the European market, including different types of stone fruits and table grapes. Stone fruits remain the flagship product for the Moldovan exporter.

"This year we have harvested a good crop of apricots and exports have started in earnest. Our popular plums will also be available later in the season, which allows us to extend the supply period for consumers," Bitlan emphasizes.

Fani SRL has ambitious plans for development, including investments in new, modern, high-performance production and packaging. Work on these projects has already begun as the company aims to meet the growing demand for quality fruit.

Although Moldova is not yet a member of the European Union, most of the packaging is imported from neighboring Romania. This complicates customs clearance procedures, but Moldovan manufacturers such as Fani SRL are actively looking for more efficient logistics solutions and partnerships to meet their customers' needs.

Thus, Moldova is taking confident steps towards integration with the European market, introducing innovative and environmentally sustainable solutions in the field of fruit export.
