The flourishing of the Ukrainian agricultural sector: ₴500 million for the development of gardens and greenhouses

Ukrainian farmers clearly confirm their leadership in the development of the agricultural sector by receiving grants totaling 501 million hryvnias this year for the development of gardens and greenhouses. This became possible thanks to the government program to support small and medium-sized businesses.

One of the key components of this initiative is the already paid 395.3 million UAH for the development of 102 farms in the field of horticulture. In particular, 21 farms received UAH 105.8 million for the development of greenhouses, which allows expanding production and introducing new technologies.

The overall success of the program is highlighted by payments in the amount of UAH 550.3 million to 131 business entities since its inception. This includes UAH 430.3 million for 109 farms in the fields of horticulture, berry growing and viticulture, as well as UAH 119.9 million for 22 enterprises aimed at the development of greenhouses.

The program, which began its operation on July 1, 2022, provides an opportunity to create and develop your own business in the areas of "Own business", "Own garden", "Own greenhouse", "New level". Its key advantage is the promotion of small and medium-sized businesses in the agricultural sector.

Grants provided under the program make up no more than 70% of the project cost, but do not exceed UAH 10 million. Applicants must finance at least 30% with own or loan funds, ensuring the stable operation and growth of the business.

One of the mandatory conditions for receiving grants is the employment of the required number of employees. For gardens, a requirement of 5 to 10 permanent and 125–425 seasonal workers is established, depending on the type of plantings. Greenhouses must have at least 4 permanent and 10 seasonal workers per hectare.
