Winter rapeseed sowing completed in four regions in Ukraine

The autumn sowing campaign is underway in Ukraine, which is at different stages in different regions. Some regions have only just begun sowing, while others have already completed the work. In total, 727.5 thousand hectares have been sown in the country, ProAgro Group reports.

According to the Ministry of Economy, farmers in Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Ternopil, Kherson, Chernivtsi and Chernihiv regions have begun sowing winter grain crops. 42.2 thousand hectares have already been sown with winter grain crops in these territories.

Farmers pay the greatest attention to winter rapeseed, which is one of the priority crops in the crop structure. As of today, 685.3 thousand hectares of rapeseed have been sown in Ukraine, which provides a significant share of autumn work.

As for other winter crops, the following have been sown so far:

winter wheat – 39.9 thousand hectares;

winter barley – 1.1 thousand hectares;

winter rye – 1.2 thousand hectares.

Farmers in Vinnytsia, Volyn, Poltava and Ternopil regions have been particularly active in completing the sowing of winter rapeseed. In these regions, work has already been fully completed, which allows farmers to move on to caring for crops and preparing for winter.

The Ministry of Economy notes that autumn sowing continues in almost all regions, and producers are making every effort to complete the work in a timely manner. The level of sowing of winter rapeseed is one of the key indicators of the agricultural sector’s preparation for the next production year.
