Egg prices in Ukraine have begun to fall: production is breaking records

After a period of steady price growth, the market for chicken eggs in Ukraine is showing the first signs of stabilization. Over the past two weeks, prices for C1 category eggs sold without packaging have decreased by 5.2% - from 60.85 hryvnias to 57.68 hryvnias per dozen. This is the first noticeable decrease since the beginning of February 2025.

The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vitaliy Koval, reported on the positive price dynamics. According to him, the market is gradually returning to a balanced state, which allows reducing the cost of socially significant products. According to price monitoring, on March 28, a dozen eggs cost 60.85 hryvnias, on April 4 - already 60.44 hryvnias (a decrease of 0.7%), and as of April 11 - 57.68 hryvnias (another 4.6% decrease).

One of the key factors that led to the price reduction was a significant increase in production volumes. In March 2025, 962 million chicken eggs were produced in Ukraine - this is significantly more than in January (784 million pcs.) and February (787 million pcs.). Such activity of poultry farms allowed to saturate the domestic market and reduce price pressure.

The ministry also confirmed that the current supply volume fully covers consumer demand. There are currently no signs of shortages or supply disruptions. At the same time, the department recalled that the egg market is sensitive to seasonal fluctuations, so maintaining the current dynamics depends on a complex of factors.

In particular, price formation is influenced by the cost of feed, energy prices, logistics costs, as well as consumer activity. Recently, the stabilization of prices for feed components and electricity has contributed to the overall reduction in the price of products.

Experts predict that if production remains high and market conditions do not change significantly, egg prices may remain at current levels or even continue their gradual decline in the coming weeks. This will be an important factor in supporting the spending power of Ukrainians in the face of economic instability.
