Ukraine and Turkey have reached new agreements on expanding trade and economic cooperation in the agricultural sector. The main result of the negotiations is an increase in the volume of exports of Ukrainian agricultural products to Turkey, in particular corn, oil and other agricultural products.
This was announced by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaly Koval following a meeting with the Turkish delegation, headed by the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey Ibrahim Yumakli. According to him, the negotiations were held in a constructive manner and opened up new prospects for cooperation.
One of the key achievements was the signing of the Protocol on expanding cooperation in the field of trade in agricultural products. In addition to increasing exports of corn and oil, the document provides for expanding supplies of Ukrainian poultry meat, dairy products, honey, livestock, vegetables, fruits and organic products. This will not only strengthen trade relations between the two countries, but also contribute to the growth of production in the Ukrainian agricultural sector.
Separately, the parties considered the possibility of supplying Ukrainian soybeans to Turkey. Turkish entrepreneurs are interested not only in purchasing this product, but also in using it for the production of animal feed and bioethanol. In this regard, the issue of building new feed and biofuel plants in Ukraine with the support of Turkish investors was raised.
In addition to agricultural products, Turkey expressed interest in supplying tractors and other agricultural machinery to Ukraine. To implement this initiative, the parties agreed to organize a meeting of representatives of Ukrainian and Turkish machinery manufacturers with the aim of developing partnership relations.
Another important area of cooperation will be the modernization of irrigation systems in Ukraine. The Turkish State Water Resources Agency has significant experience in implementing effective land reclamation systems, which can be useful for Ukraine. In this regard, it is planned to exchange technologies and involve Turkish specialists in joint projects.
In order to promptly resolve issues and eliminate bureaucratic barriers, the ministers agreed to create a working group that will meet quarterly to assess the implementation of agreements and implement new initiatives in the field of agricultural cooperation.
