Milk Price Update in Ukraine: New Trends and Forecasts
Ukraine has seen a significant increase in milk prices over the past few months. This issue is of concern to many consumers, as the changes directly affect the daily expenses of families. According to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, prices for milk and dairy products are constantly changing depending on various factors, such as seasonality, demand, production costs and the economic situation in the country.
Over the past three months, milk prices have increased by 10-15%, depending on the region. The most expensive increase has been in the price of milk in plastic bottles. On average, a liter of milk in supermarkets today costs about 30-35 hryvnias, while last summer its price was 25-28 hryvnias. This growth dynamics is the result of various factors, including increased costs for raw materials, energy resources and transport services.
The main factor behind the increase in milk prices is a significant increase in the price of livestock feed. This directly affects the cost of milk production. The cost of livestock feed, which is the main feed for cows, has increased by 20-25%. In particular, due to high prices for imported components from which feed is made, farmers are forced to increase the prices of their products, which is reflected in the final prices for consumers.
In addition, the milk market in Ukraine remains unstable due to geopolitical factors that complicate access to some raw materials. Changes in exchange rates, as well as various sanctions and restrictions, also do not contribute to the stability of milk prices. As a result, farmers face additional costs, which forces them to increase the prices of their products.
Milk prices vary depending on the region. In large cities, such as Kyiv and Lviv, milk is often more expensive due to high transportation costs and rental of retail space. In contrast, more affordable prices can be found in rural areas, but here too there is a trend towards an increase in the cost of dairy products.
Despite the price increase, forecasts for the coming months do not promise a significant decrease in the price of milk. Analysts indicate that Ukraine will see a further increase in the cost of products, associated with increased energy costs and the need for additional investments in the modernization of dairy enterprises. According to experts, the average annual increase in milk prices may be from 15% to 20%.
In connection with this situation, consumers should monitor the prices of dairy products more closely and try to buy milk during periods when prices have not yet reached their peak. At the same time, support for domestic producers and farmers remains important, because only in this way can stability be maintained in the milk market and contribute to the development of the industry.
