Ukraine has entered the top 10 world producers of fruit and vegetables

Ukraine has made a significant breakthrough in the global fruit and vegetable market, overtaking Spain and entering the top 10 countries in terms of fruit and vegetable production. This was made possible by the significant growth in agricultural production in Ukraine in recent years. This was reported by EastFruit, citing Faostat data.

Spain, which had previously been consistently among the top ten largest producers, fell out of this group due to a 10% drop in production between 2020 and 2023. From 31 million tons in 2020, fruit and vegetable production in Spain decreased to 28 million tons in 2023, which allowed Ukraine, Egypt and Indonesia to rise in the world ranking.

According to Faostat, the top ten largest producers of fruit and vegetable products in 2023 included the following countries:

1. China – 781.5 million tons;
2. India – 221 million tons;
3. USA – 68.7 million tons;
4. Turkey – 56 million tons;
5. Brazil – 48 million tons;
6. Mexico – 40 million tons;
7. Russia – 35 million tons;
8. Indonesia – 34 million tons;
9. Egypt – 33 million tons;
10. Ukraine – 30 million tons.

These indicators indicate the significant role of Ukraine in the global fruit and vegetable market. In particular, our country has demonstrated significant achievements in the production and export of these products, which helped it get into the prestigious top ten.

Ukraine's significant progress in this market confirms the high potential of Ukrainian farmers in the production of fruit and vegetable products, as well as the increased efficiency of agricultural practices. Given the stable growth of production and support from the state, Ukraine managed not only to overtake Spain, but also to strengthen its positions in the international market.
