Rising apple prices in Ukraine: increased demand affects the market

A significant increase in apple prices has been observed in Ukraine this week, which was a consequence of the increase in demand for quality products. Analysts of the EastFruit project report that such a change in pricing policy is caused by the intensification of trade and purchasing activity in the market.

Changes in the apple market

Last week, demand for apples remained relatively low, but in recent days, buyers of various categories, including retailers and exporters, have been actively looking for high-quality products. This has led to an increase in apple prices, especially for the highest-quality fruits.

New apple prices

As of today, high-quality apples from Ukrainian farms are sold at a price of 25 to 32 UAH per kilogram, which is equivalent to $0.59–0.76 per kilogram. This is 13% more expensive than at the beginning of this week. High apple prices reflect increased demand for this product in various sectors, from retail to export.

Insufficient supply of quality apples

There is a shortage of high-quality apples on the market. Some gardeners offer for sale fruits that have lost some of their quality due to long-term storage. This reduces the amount of goods that can satisfy high market demand.

Gardeners' strategies: export and deferred sales

The best batches of apples are usually sent for export, as high-quality apples are in demand on foreign markets. Some Ukrainian gardeners also choose a strategy of deferred sales, storing products until spring, in the hope of even greater price growth.

Pricing prospects on the apple market

Analysts predict that the limited supply of quality apples will continue to affect price dynamics, especially in conditions of high demand on both domestic and foreign markets. The lack of sufficient quantities of high-quality produce could lead to further price increases in the coming months.

Thus, while apple prices are rising, Ukrainian orchardists continue to employ a variety of sales and storage strategies, trying to maximize their profits, taking into account both domestic and external market conditions.
