Grape and Apple Prices in Ukraine: Increase in Early 2025

At the beginning of 2025, Ukraine is experiencing an increase in fruit prices, which is typical for the New Year period. In particular, there is an increase in grape prices, which is caused by seasonal fluctuations in the fruit market, as well as increased demand during the holidays.

According to retail monitoring data, grape prices increased significantly in January 2025. The average cost of a kilogram of grapes increased by 20.8% compared to December 2024 - from 206.11 to 249.08 hryvnias per kilogram. The highest prices for grapes were recorded in the MegaMarket chain, where its cost reached 289.90 UAH/kg. However, in the Auchan and Metro chains, the price was slightly lower - 228.70 UAH/kg.

As for apples, their prices remain more stable. Ukrainian apples have risen in price moderately — the average price has increased by 8.3%, from 34.25 to 37.70 hryvnias per kilogram. The most favorable prices for apples can be found in the Novus chain, where they are sold at 18.90 hryvnias/kg. At the same time, apples of the Idared variety have retained their value at the December level, remaining at 37.70 hryvnias/kg in the Auchan chain.

Such an increase in fruit prices during the New Year period is traditionally explained by increased demand due to holiday shopping and limited supply of certain fruits in the winter season. In addition, it is worth noting that grape prices tend to rise at this time due to its imported nature and seasonal factors.

An increase in prices for fruit products is not unusual for the Ukrainian market at this time of year, but it is important that such fluctuations do not become long-lasting in order to maintain stability in the market situation. It is observed that prices may change depending on the harvest and supply conditions, which affects the availability of fruit on the market.

Against the background of these changes, Ukrainians may face new shopping conditions, and businesses, in turn, must work to optimize their offers to meet growing demand. Maintaining stability in the food market is an important task for the state and the agricultural sector.
