Espresso prices in Ukraine have increased by 11% per year
Over the past year, the cost of espresso in Ukraine has increased by 11%. This occurred against the background of a general increase in the cost of products and services in the country, which has become a noticeable trend in the field of gastronomy and the cafe business. The consumer price index, which shows the change in the cost of various goods and services, confirms that coffee, as one of the main products, has not escaped the wave of inflation.
According to research conducted in various cities of Ukraine, the average cost of espresso at the beginning of 2025 is approximately 55-60 hryvnias. For comparison, a year ago the price of this popular drink was much lower - about 50 hryvnias. The increase of 11% is noticeable, especially for those who are used to regularly consuming coffee in cafes or restaurants.
One of the main reasons for the increase in the cost of espresso is the increase in the cost of raw materials, in particular coffee beans. In Ukraine, as in many other countries, the price of raw materials for coffee production has increased due to changes in international markets, as well as global economic processes related to the impact of climate change on coffee cultivation. This has increased the cost of coffee production, which, accordingly, was reflected in the final cost of the drink for consumers.
Another reason for the increase in espresso prices is the increase in the cost of energy resources and rent. Most cafes and coffee houses depend on stable supplies of electricity and gas, as well as on the cost of renting commercial premises. All these factors together contribute to the overall increase in customer service costs, which ultimately affects the price of the final product.
The increase in the cost of espresso had another aspect. The increase in the price of coffee has forced owners of establishments to reconsider their pricing and discount strategies. Some cafes have begun to introduce new service formats, such as “special offers” for regular customers or combo drinks, in order to attract more customers and maintain profitability.
It is worth noting that, despite the increase in prices, the demand for espresso in Ukraine remains consistently high. Ukrainians increasingly appreciate quality coffee, and this trend continues to gain popularity. Many coffee shops are trying to find the optimal ratio between price and quality in order to satisfy the needs of their customers and maintain competitiveness in the market. Thus, although espresso prices in Ukraine have increased by 11% per year, consumers are still willing to pay for a quality drink, which is an indicator of the stable development of coffee culture in the country. Among the main factors affecting the price are global economic processes, as well as internal production and service costs.
