Ukraine needs a program to build vegetable storage facilities to support the agricultural sector

Ukraine needs a large-scale program to build vegetable storage facilities, which will be an important step in supporting the agricultural sector and preserving crops. According to the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Vitaliy Koval, international partners are currently actively supporting small and marginal farmers, but it is necessary to include in the programs the issues of creating vegetable storage facilities, as well as the development of vegetable processing.

The minister noted that the infrastructure for storing vegetables is critically important for the country. “We need potato storage facilities and vegetable storage facilities in each region, and these should be several powerful locations. Each district should be able to store at least 10-20 thousand tons of vegetables,” Koval emphasized. This will not only allow for the preservation of the harvest, but will also significantly reduce the level of product losses due to the lack of proper storage conditions.

Vitaliy Koval also emphasized the need to develop processing enterprises for vegetables, which will ensure the stability of supply and reduce dependence on seasonal fluctuations in production. The program for the construction of vegetable storage facilities will significantly improve the efficiency of the agricultural sector, increasing the possibilities for storing and processing products.

The initiative for the construction of new storage facilities and the development of vegetable processing also meets modern market requirements, where special attention is paid to preserving product quality. Given the constantly growing demand for vegetables, in particular in export markets, the creation of appropriate infrastructure is becoming one of the priority tasks for Ukraine.

Ukraine is currently actively seeking opportunities to attract additional investments for the development of this industry. Given the significant potential of the agricultural sector and the importance of effective storage of products, such a program can become an important factor in strengthening the country's agricultural economy.
