During January-October 2024, Ukraine continued the trend of increasing imports and exports of cheeses, which reflects stable demand for these products both in the domestic and foreign markets.

In general, in the first ten months of 2024, Ukraine imported 28.9 thousand tons of cheeses, which is 6.6% more than in the same period last year. The value of these imports amounted to over 171 million US dollars, which also indicates an increase in the purchase demand for foreign cheeses in Ukraine. The largest suppliers of cheeses to the Ukrainian market were Poland, Germany and the Netherlands, of which the largest share fell to Poland (39.6%).

Against the background of increasing imports, Ukraine also recorded an increase in cheese exports. In the first ten months of 2024, Ukrainian cheese exports reached 10,100 tons, which is 40.3% more than in the same period in 2023. In monetary terms, these exports amounted to $43.7 million, which is 34% more than in 2023.

The main buyers of Ukrainian cheeses remain neighboring countries and traditional markets, in particular Moldova (33.1%), Kazakhstan (30.2%) and Germany (9.3%). The increase in export volumes indicates stable demand for Ukrainian products in foreign markets, which is an important indicator for the development of the agricultural sector of Ukraine.

Along with the growth of exports and imports, changes in the structuring of suppliers and consumers can be observed. During 2024, Ukraine strengthened its positions in international markets, in particular in Moldova and Kazakhstan, where stable consumption of Ukrainian cheeses was noted. On the other hand, cheese imports from Poland, Germany and the Netherlands provided a significant share in supplies, which also contributes to the growth of cheese consumption in Ukraine.

Thus, the growth in cheese imports and exports reflects the stable development of the dairy industry in Ukraine, and also confirms the increasing demand for cheeses both in the domestic market and in foreign markets. The trend towards increasing export supplies is also an important indicator for Ukrainian producers, who are strengthening their position in the international market.
